Our Lady of Medjugorje

Medjugorje is a village in Bosnia and Herzegovina that became an important destination for Catholic pilgrims in 1981. According to the accounts of six young people, they began reporting apparitions of the Virgin Mary on 24 June of that year, on a hill near the village.
The figure they described came to be known as Our Lady of Medjugorje, or the Queen of Peace. The messages associated with the devotion particularly emphasise prayer, peace, faith, conversion, fasting, and reconciliation.
Since then, Medjugorje has welcomed pilgrims from many countries who come to pray, celebrate Mass, and seek spiritual renewal. In 2024, the Vatican authorised the faithful to follow this spiritual experience through a formal recognition of its spiritual fruits, while making no declaration that the reported apparitions are supernatural.
Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, Queen of Peace! You came to us to lead us to God. Obtain for us the grace not only to say: “May it be done to me according to Your will!” but also to live it as You did. We place our hands in Yours, so that You may lead us to Jesus through all our trials and sorrows. Through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
